School Magazine-
Planning Sheet
What is the name of
your magazine? What are the connotations of the name?
The name of my magazine is ‘Teen Tips. The reason behind
this name is because the magazine itself is for a school. The purpose of the magazine is to inform
students, who are teens, about what is going on and how they can do things. For
example, what they can do to avoid stress. The magazine provides tips and
advice to the student when in need. This is why ‘Teen Tips’ is the most
suitable name for the magazine.
What will be your
front cover story and how will you visualise this?
The front cover story is about student stress. How exams and
school life can over take a student’s mind and this results in them being
stressed. This will be visualised through the image on the front cover, of a
student holding a pile of books and a heavy bag looking stressed and tired. The
expression on their face should be able to display the tension they are facing.
Who is the target audience?
The target audience is students studying GCSE and A-level.
The reason behind my choice of audience is because these two groups of students
face the most stress than any other group due to exams etc. therefore they
would need advice more and are more likely to look for advice via the magazine.
The magazine isn’t specifically aimed at only boys or just girls. It is aimed
at everyone as both genders would be going through the same stress over exams
and other problems faced at school. So the aim of the magazine is to interest
both genders.
What sort of shot
will it be? Close up, mid shot, low or high angle?
The shot will be mid shot to emphasise on the books and the
bag the student is having to carry.
What mis en scene
will be required for the photography? (Location, Clothing, lighting)
The location of the photography will be in a school library
to show that the student is in school premises, this should emphasise that
there is no escape for the student as they are constantly in school having to
work. The student will be wearing uniform so that the reader of the magazine is
aware that it is about students.
What would be your
headline and how will it match the main image?
The headline ‘Is your stress making you a mess?’ will be
across the top of the image. The reason behind the wording of the headline
suggests that the stress the student is facing is making a mess of them as they
tensed and look miserable. This matches the image as the image portrays a
stressed student looking tensed as they find it difficult to hold onto a pile
of books and manage the weight of their school bag.
What colour scheme do
you want and explain why?
The colours in my magazine will be neutral colours. The
purpose of the magazine is to provide tips for students. Although it is
supposed to be fun and helpful there is a serious motive behind the magazine
which is to help students who need advice therefore it is important that the
person reading it isn’t distracted by colours.
